Spend 9 days of full immersion in the natural, cultural, and architectural wonders of this small country with us on this custom-built itinerary that you will not find anywhere else.

Our trip will be operated in partnership with one of the leading local tour companies. This means we’ll have access to some of the best guides in Jordan.

We have traveled with them in the past and have worked closely with them to develop this special itinerary so you can experience the best this country has to offer.

The highlights of this trip include a visit to Petra – one of the Wonders of the World, staying at a Bedouin camp in the Wadi Rum desert, and floating in the Dead Sea, along with some stops that will surely surprise you.

We’ll traverse the small country from Amman to Wadi Rum and back again.

Daily activities include sightseeing, hiking, cultural experiences, tea breaks, and plenty of photo stops.

Something to note: While every trip we offer provides a photographic element, you do not need to be a photographer to join this trip. But, if you want to take photos, we’ll have amazing opportunities to do so.

If all you have is an iPhone, no worries! We can help you take great photos with it.

If photography is of no interest to you at all, that’s ok too.

Today we will explore some of Jordan’s impressive ancient wonders, including Jerash and Aljoun Castle.

  • Jerash – “Pompeii of the East”, Gerasa one of the Decapolis “the Famous 10 Greco-Roman Cities” Located 45 KM north of Amman, Jerash is the best-preserved example of Roman Civilization in Jordan.
  • Ajloun Castle – In AD 1184-85 the nephew of Salah-el-Din al Ayyubi (Saladin) built a fortress on the summit of Jabal Bani ‘Awaf, on the site of what is now Qalaat-al-Rabad. Its dominating position allowed an extraordinarily wide vantage over the surrounding lands, and its view is one of the best in the Middle East.

In the late afternoon we will return to Amman for a cooking class at the famed Beit Sitti – recently featured on the National Geographic show, Unchartered, with Gordon Ramsey.

Overnight: 5* Amman Crowne Plaza Hotel (B-L-D)

Our day starts with a tour of the ancient Amman Citadel. The capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was founded 7000 years ago, and the Human civilized occupation continued through the Greco-Roman era over Seven Mountains reaching nowadays over more than 20 mountains.

Afterward, our journey heads south to discover one of Jordan’s impressive natural wonders, the Ma’in Hot Springs. You’ll have the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel spa, soak in the luxurious hot springs, or visit some local hot springs on the property.

Overnight: 5* Ma’in Hot Springs Resort (B-L-D)

Today we head further south to Petra – where you can cross off one of the world’s 7 Wonders from your travel list. We’ll start our exploration of the area with a visit to Little Petra.

In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the iconic world wonder of Petra, the rose city.

Overnight: 5* Movenpick Petra Resort – at the entrance of Petra (B-L-D)

Another day in Petra! In true Divergent Travel Trips style, we have included the famous ‘back door hike’ taking us to the lesser-visited monastery, among other sites. This will be a long but highly rewarding day! You’ll be part of only 15% of Petra visitors to see the monastery!

  • The Petra Back Door Hike – We will enter through the back door, passing the massive monastery before traversing the entire site and ending at the famous Treasury Building (Al-Khazneh). Our hike ends by walking out the narrow siq and to our 5* hotel at the entrance to Petra. We will see also the Roman Theatre, Corinthian tomb, the Palace of Pharos’s Daughter, the Carved Roman Theater, and the Royal Courts, along with one of the oldest Cathedrals of the Bishop high chair.

If hiking is not on your to-do list, enjoy a free day to revisit Petra through the front entrance and visit more of this massive site. Or, opt to relax at the luxurious hotel.

The day will end with the beautiful Petra by Night event.

  • Petra By Night – Complete your Petra experience with a visit to the Petra Night Show. This event is a magical way to see part of the rock city by candlelight and walk the entire Siq to the Treasury that is lit with over 1,500 candles.

Today we wake up early for a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Mars-like landscape. We will then set off on another 4×4 ride to seek our ancient petroglyphs, see references to Lawrence of Arabia, and further enjoy the desert.

Trip Perks

If you’re looking for a trip to Jordan that includes all of the highlights, along with some lesser-known gems, this itinerary is for you.

Our trips include ALL extra activities, day trips, and entrance fees. We’ve also hand-selected lovely 5-star hotels.

Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) is the largest international airport in the country and you should book your flights to and from this airport.

Airport transfers to our starting hotel in Amman are included.

Amman offers visas on arrival for most passports. The cost is INCLUDED on this trip and our representative will meet you at the airport prior to going through immigration in Amman. It’s easy!

Late April is well into Spring, so we’ll be past the coldest part of the winter season and into the warmer months. You’ll want to have layers as you can expect it to be warm and sunny during the day, cooling off at night.

We hand-select each and every property that is used for our trips. Trust us when we say we only want the best for you! On this trip, we’ll be staying in five different 5* luxury properties that offer prime locations in Jordan. This is a high end trip.

Room sharing – if you are traveling solo and select the shared room option, we will do our best to pair you with someone of the same gender. We’ll do our best to pair you with someone we think you’ll click with based on your signup forms.

We cannot guarantee that you’ll mesh well with your assigned roommate. This is very rare, but it does sometimes happen.

Things to Consider – If you like your own space after a day of group traveling, are a light sleeper, or snore, sharing may not be a good fit for you.

In the event that you are incompatible with your assigned roommate and need to change rooms, your trip host will either swap shared rooming arrangements or work with the hotel to get you a solo room. Please note that if you have to switch to a solo room, you will be subject to a solo supplement.

If you sign up for a shared room and we are unable to pair you with another solo shared traveler before the trip starts, your booking may become a solo booking. If this happens, we will notify you and the single supplement will apply.

If you do not want to share, it is possible to have your own room with the additional fee of a single supplement.

Note: this option is limited.

It is possible to have a solo private room but this option is limited. The cost to have a solo private room for the whole trip is an additional $750.

This tour is rated Moderate. There will be some long walking days around various sites and Petra. To really enjoy the tour you should at least be prepared for some long walks in outdoor settings. The Petra Back Door hike is a proper hike, but is also optional.

Yes, we have some down time built into the schedule if you’d like to explore some on your own or just relax at the hotels.

Jordan has great cell service, so if you have a roaming plan, you’ll have no problem being connected. It’s also possible to buy SIM cards and local data packages at the airport in Amman.

Once you arrive in Amman your airport transfers, accommodation, activities, and transport are included. You will need money to cover non-included meals, gratuities for our local guide, beverages at all meals (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and any souvenirs.
