We’ve all been there as travelers- schlepping between the subway and your hostel with an ill-fitting backpack. The repercussion of this lasts a week while you slowly heal from the wrenching that has taken place.
I am not going to say that packing your bag is simple, but there are some resources out there that can help you figure out the mystery.
I think one of the most important things is making sure you carry a backpack that is a suitable size for your frame. I’ve always made the mistake of carrying bags that are too big for me. This makes it really tricky to balance the weight correctly.
Tortuga Backpacks recently posted the info graphic below on their website on how to pack your backpack to be comfortable. Besides the typical information on knowing how to adjust shoulder straps, sternum straps and hip belts; it provides a nice look on how to pack your bag for the correct weight distribution.
I know all too well the importance of this, as I have suffered many times from an ill-fitted pack that wasn’t packed right.
In passing this information on I hope to save at least one traveler from the ‘pain in the neck’ of not packing and fitting your backpack for travel correctly. Happy travels!
