Rise and shine! Today is going to be one of the most exciting days of the trip as we head to the famous Perito Moreno Glacier for the entire day. Why? Because we have included an extra special activity, just for you!

Full-Day Glacier Minitrekking & Perito Moreno Visit

We will be picked up at our hotel in El Calafate and driven towards Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. Once at “Bajo de las Sombras” port, we will navigate across Rico Lake, and descend on the opposite coast in front of the stunning south face of Perito Moreno
Glacier.

Expert mountain guides will welcome us. For the ice walk, they will later fit the crampons, helmets and harnesses and will explain the basic safety rules. The level of difficulty of this walk is moderate. The surface of the ice is irregular, but firm and safe. We will start by walking along the lake coast, keeping our eyes on the glacier so that we do not miss any ice detachments. Then, the guides will give a talk about glaciology.

After putting on the crampons, we will hike for one hour on the ice, seeing a variety of typical glacier features, such as deep cracks, blue moulins, huge seracs and turquoise ponds. At the end, we will walk on the area around the glacier and the side moraine, from where we will be able to enjoy a panoramic view. Later, we will return along a path crossing the exuberant Patagonian Andean forest.

Back at the shelter, we will have some free time before boarding the ship back and navigating very close to the south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Returning back to the park, we will enjoy a one-hour guided visit to the walkways of the Glacier, 7 km from the port. There, we will enjoy the spectacular panoramic view and walk along some of the self-guided paths.

Duration: 10 hours
Difficulty: Moderate. You must have the necessary psychophysical capacity to walk for at least 3 hours.
What to bring: Comfortable and warm clothing, waterproof jacket, long waterproof pants, trekking or waterproof shoes, small/medium backpack, sunglasses, sunscreen, gloves, wool hat. Food and drinks for the day (no food or drinks are sold on site).

Note: The Minitrekking takes place in a natural environment, so the weather conditions and the glacier and its surroundings change every day. However, the excursion is not suspended, as long as security conditions allow it. The visit to the Glacier footbridges can be before or after the Minitrekking activity, depending on the time when boarding is confirmed.

The restrictions outlined below are set strictly by the operator. We do not make these decisions.

If you are unable to participate in the glacier trekking due to any of the restrictions that are outlined below, alternate arrangements will be made to take you to Perito Moreno Glacier park entrance. You will have free time within the park before meeting back with the trekking group when they arrive.

AGE RESTRICTION: Suitable for people between 8 and 65 years ONLY. No exceptions.

RESTRICTIONS: If you have the following features or conditions, for the sake of safety, YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO PARTICIPATE ON THIS ACTIVITY: Pregnant people. Full Day in Torres del Paine National Park
This morning we will depart from our hotel to Torres del Paine National Park, declared Biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1978.

Horseback Ricing to Cerro Dorotea

Located very close to the city of Puerto Natales, the transfer to the starting point will take no more than 20 minutes. Once there, we will be equipped with protective leg gaiters and helmets. Our experienced guides will assist you with the equipment and explain the details of the ride.

Essentially, we will be horseback riding to one of the peaks of the Sierra Dorotea, named after the marine captain, explorer, and rancher Hermann Eberhard, in honor of his daughter Dorotea. Along the way, we will encounter a variety of low-growing vegetation, and numerous lenga and coihue de Magallanes trees, which are characteristic of the area and belong to the Nothofagus family.

Upon reaching an altitude of over 500 meters above sea level, we will begin to appreciate a unique panoramic view of your surroundings. This view will encompass the Golfo Almirante Montt, Canal Señoret, Fiordo Última Esperanza, and several mountains such as the Cordillera Sarmiento, Monte Balmaceda, and Cerro Rotundo.

At the summit, we can relax and take photos. We will return to our starting point.
Upon arrival, we will be treated to a cup of coffee with homemade bread and sopaipillas (fried pumpkin pastries) made by the homeowner.

This trip starts with your arrival at the El Calafate International Airport (FTE) in Argentina.

Airport transfers are included.

Late October is summer in the southern hemisphere, so the weather is expected to be sunny and drier than usual. However, Patagonia is notoriously windy, and even though it’s summer, you can still experience four seasons in one day. You’ll want to have layers as you can expect it to be sunny during the day, cooling off at night.

We hand-select each and every property that is used for our trips. Trust us when we say we only want the best for you! On this trip, we’ll be staying in a variety of 3* properties that offer prime locations across Patagonia. They all offer private bathrooms. You can expect these 3* properties to by boutique and cozy.

Room sharing – if you are traveling solo and select the shared room option, we will do our best to pair you with someone of the same gender. We’ll do our best to pair you with someone we think you’ll click with based on your signup forms.

We cannot guarantee that you’ll mesh well with your assigned roommate. This is very rare, but it does sometimes happen.

Things to Consider – If you like your own space after a day of group traveling, are a light sleeper, or snore, sharing may not be a good fit for you.

In the event that you are incompatible with your assigned roommate and need to change rooms, your trip host will either swap shared rooming arrangements or work with the hotel to get you a solo room. Please note that if you have to switch to a solo room, you will be subject to a solo supplement.

If you sign up for a shared room and we are unable to pair you with another solo shared traveler before the trip starts, your booking may become a solo booking. If this happens, we will notify you and the single supplement will apply.

If you do not want to share, it is possible to have your own room with the additional fee of a single supplement.

Note: this option is limited.

It is possible to have a solo private room but this option is limited. The cost to have a solo private room for the whole trip is an additional $1000.

This tour is rated Moderate and this will be an active trip. We will have several days dedicated to hiking. Worth noting, none of the hikes are at altitude. All hiking will start from ground level. To really enjoy the tour you should at least be prepared for some long hikes in outdoor settings.

Yes, we have some down time built into the schedule if you’d like to explore some on your own or just relax at the hotels.

Both Argentina and Chile have cell service, so if you have a roaming plan, you’ll will be able to be connected. Our hotels will also offer internet. When we’re exploring the parks or hiking, it’s best to expect there will be no internet or data services.

Once you arrive in Argentina your airport transfers, accommodation, activities, and transport are included. You will need money to cover non-included meals, gratuities for our local guide, beverages at all meals (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and any souvenirs.
