Welcome to Tanzania!

When you arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our ground team. You will then transfer to the hotel for free time before joining our welcome dinner.

Overnight: Beautiful 4* Hotel in Arusha

In the morning we will be collected from our lodgings in Arusha by our personal safari guide. We set out for
Tarangire National Park across gently rolling Masai plains with scattered acacia trees. As we zip along we pass many Masai in their colorful dress walking on the roadside, riding bicycles, herding cattle, and driving donkeys carts.

Tarangire National Park, well known for its large elephant herds, is also host to a multitude of other creatures. From the open roof of our safari jeep, we experience the seasonal swamps, savanna, and life-giving Tarangire River endeavoring to encounter a multitude of creatures from zebra to wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, and giraffe, to name but a few. It is possible we will glimpse lions stalking prey or leopards relaxing in the trees above.

After our extensive game drive, we depart to drive to our lodge base for dinner in a tasteful restaurant and a most capacious room to harbor our ease and dreams of wild cats!

Overnight: Beautiful 4* Lodge in Karatu (B-L-D)

Early morning breakfast before setting off to the Serengeti National Park. The word ‘Serengeti’ is derived from the Maasai language, meaning endless plain.

When people dream of the Serengeti, it’s probably the Central Serengeti they’re dreaming of. That’s because
you’re in the perfect place to see all that the Serengeti has to offer, and this is the area of the park where wildlife is present in the biggest numbers. It’s also filled with acacia trees and those Serengeti horizons that
seem to go on forever.

En route to the Serengeti we will visit a Masaai Village to explore Maasai culture and participate in some tribal activities.

In the late afternoon, we will enjoy a game drive through the Serengeti en-route to our LUXURY camp! Here in the Serengeti we’ll find big cats (leopard, lion and cheetah), big herds (wildebeest, zebra and buffalo), giraffes, and very big elephants.

Overnight: 5* Luxury Serengeti Camp! (B-L-D)

After breakfast we will set off on a safari that will take us deep into the Serengeti National Park’s wilderness corners for a full day of game viewing in the park. We will spend all day in the park with a picnic lunch to explore this world heritage site, where earth’s largest concentration of plain game still roams free!

We will game drive until sunset before heading back to our luxury camp.

OPTIONAL TOUR: Join us for an unforgettable hot-air balloon safari over the Serengeti. You’ll take to the skies before dawn and watch spellbound as the Serengeti’s savannah grasslands come to life. You’ll also lose count of how many animals you see from up there. $600/pp and must book in advance

Overnight: 5* Luxury Serengeti Camp! (B-L-D)

Rise and shine! It’s an early departure for us today to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This morning’s destination is the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven wonders of Africa, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Once we have reached the crater rim, we descend the steep track into the 600m deep caldera to see a range of animals, grasslands, birds, and a lake. The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the “Big Five” to spotted hyenas and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area.

After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch in the crater, we will head to our lodge in Karatu where we will have dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Beautiful 4* Lodge in Karatu (B-L-D)

Drive to Lake Eyasi, a mildly alkaline lake about 55km long. If seeing hundreds of species of birds excites you, Lake Eyasi is a perfect destination for you to see flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, weavers, spurfowls, storks, barbets, egrets and more.

The visit includes meeting the Hadzabe people and spending the day observing their ways. The Hadzabe is an indigenous tribe known as the hunter gatherer Bushmen. We will visit their homesteads and learn more about their lifestyle. Hunting in groups with bows and arrows, this tribe is able to survive with what the environment provides. The Hadzabe bushmen treat diseases with their own medicines. They also speak a very unique click language.

Overnight: Beautiful 4* Lodge in Karatu (B-L-D)

After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Where the plains of northern Tanzania meet the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a wonderful place to spend a safari day.

Our highlights for the day might include getting up-close-and-personal with the elephants that made this park famous, lots of baboons, as well as one of few lion populations in Africa that spend much of their time in the trees! Between the forests at the foot of the escarpment and the lake that gives the park its name, enjoy rich birdlife and the chance of seeing predator ambush their prey.

In the late afternoon we will drive back to Arusha to be dropped at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. We will then fly to Zanzibar and be transferred to our accommodation in Matemwe.

Overnight: Beautiful 5* Beach Resort in Zanzibar (B & L)

Today you’ll wake up to the beauty of Zanzibar and the Indian Ocean! After breakfast, we will set off for a full day tour to Mnemba Atoll. Here we will have the chance to snorkel with the resident dolphin pod before heading to Mnemba Islands for some beack time and snorkeling. We will also spend time on the Mnemba sand bar and snorkel at another spectacular site. It’s a full day of sand, sun, and water!

Overnight: Beautiful 5* Beach Resort in Zanzibar (B)

Another beautiful morning in paradise. We’ll enjoy the view, and breakfast, before setting off on an Island Spice Tour to learn about the trade that has made Zanzibar famous. We will experience the spices in their original form, learn how they are grown and their uses. Some happen to be used in medicine, cosmetic and herbs.

After lunch, we will head to Stone Town for a guided city tour. Stone Town is a fascinating place to visit. A
UNESCO World Heritage Site, this absorbing port town was once the hub of a trade network that extended
across the Indian Ocean to Persia, India and beyond. Stone Town’s rich and varied pedigree is reflected in
the distinctive architecture of the multi-story coral stone houses that line its alleys, as well as the cosmopolitan feel of the local Swahili culture.

Tongiht we’ll gather for a farewell dinner and a visit to Zanzibar’s famous street food market!

Overnight: Beautiful 5* Stone Town Hotel in Zanzibar (B)

All good things must come to an end, and this morning marks the official end of our amazing time in Tanzania together. Airport transfers will take you to the airport for onward travel.

We hand-select each and every property that is used for our trips. Trust us when we say we only want the best for you! On this trip, we’ll be staying in a variety of mid-range and luxury properties that offer prime locations across Tanzania. They all offer private bathrooms.

Room sharing – if you are traveling solo and select the shared room option, we will do our best to pair you with someone of the same gender. We’ll do our best to pair you with someone we think you’ll click with based on your signup forms.

We cannot guarantee that you’ll mesh well with your assigned roommate. This is very rare, but it does sometimes happen.

Things to Consider – If you like your own space after a day of group traveling, are a light sleeper, or snore, sharing may not be a good fit for you.

In the event that you are incompatible with your assigned roommate and need to change rooms, your trip host will either swap shared rooming arrangements or work with the hotel to get you a solo room. Please note that if you have to switch to a solo room, you will be subject to a solo supplement.

If you sign up for a shared room and we are unable to pair you with another solo shared traveler before the trip starts, your booking may become a solo booking. If this happens, we will notify you and the single supplement will apply.

If you do not want to share, it is possible to have your own room with the additional fee of a single supplement.

Note: this option is limited.

It is possible to have a solo private room but this option is limited. The cost to have a solo private room for the whole trip is an additional $1000.

This tour is rated Moderate. There will be some long driving days while on safari and some easy hiking. To really enjoy the tour you should at least be prepared for some long walks in outdoor settings.

Yes, we have some down time built into the schedule if you’d like to explore some on your own or just relax at the hotels.

Tanzania has cell service, so if you have a roaming plan, you’ll will be able to be connected. Our hotels will also offer internet. When we’re on game drives, it’s best to expect there will be no internet or data services.

Once you arrive in Tanzania your airport transfers, accommodation, activities, and transport are included. You will need money to cover non-included meals, gratuities for our local guide, beverages at all meals (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and any souvenirs.
